چکیده

Background. In the central nervous system, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is one of most important neoplasms in adults. Amplification EGFR and VEGF genes common GBM. However, role overexpression survival patients with GBM has been a contentious issue. Therefore, we performed present study to assess rate overexpression. Materials methods. Resected samples were evaluated by immunohistochemistry for EGFR. The followed up year. Results. mean±sd age was 56.2±13.1 years. majority male (65.9%). Most had primary (67%), notwithstanding 33% secondary Moreover, 19.2% 49.5% VEGF-positive EGFR-positive, respectively. Overall 6, 12-, 18-month rates shown be 61.5±5.1%, 17.6±4%, 4.4±2.1%, There significant difference between mean±se VEGF-negative (12±1.9 months) (7.8±0.5 (P=0.045). Conclusions. We found an association over-expression patients. significantly associated overall patients, but failed have prognostic value their mortality rate. predictor overexertion stronger GBM, compared

Evaluation of Periodontal Disease Effect on the Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Nerve Growth Factor in Dental Pulp

Introduction: Researchers have always been interested in the close and mutual relationship between the pulp and periodontal tissues. Although the effects of pulpal disease on periodontium have been well known, the clear relationship between periodontitis and pulp has not been documented . It seems that bacteria and inflammatory products of periodontitis can affect pulp through accessory canals,...

Altered Expression of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in Glioma

EGFR is a key molecule in cancer cells. EGFR signaling was shown to promote tumor cell proliferation and survival, invasion and angiogenesis and mediate resistance to treatment, including ionizing radiation in preclinical models. We extracted proteins from astrocytoma (III and IV) oligodendroglioma(IV) tumors and normal brain tissues and then evaluated the protein purity by Bradford test ...

Assessment of epidermal growth factor receptor status in glioblastomas

Objective(s): Our previous study showed that a newly designed tracer radioiodinated 6-(3-morpholinopropoxy)-7-ethoxy-4-(3'-iodophenoxy)quinazoline ([125I]PYK) is promising for the evaluation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) status and prediction of gefitinib treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. EGFR is over-expressed and mutated also in glioblastoma. In the present study, the ...

Prognostic effect of epidermal growth factor receptor and EGFRvIII in glioblastoma multiforme patients.

PURPOSE The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is overexpressed in approximately 50% to 60% of glioblastoma multiforme tumors, and the most common EGFR mutant, EGFRvIII, is expressed in 24% to 67% of cases. We sought to determine whether glioblastoma multiforme expression of either overexpressed wild-type EGFR or the mutant EGFRvIII is an independent predictor of overall patient survival. ...
